My Love/Hate Relationship With Acrylic Nails...

Firstly, I would like to apologies for the lack of posting. I've had a busy few weeks with uni deadlines and it got a little too busy for me to blog. I also got a puppy last week, eeeeeek!!!! He is a smooth haired Dachshund and I named him Frank. He's so cute but so time consuming which is another reason I have been absent from my blog.

For this post I wanted to focus on one of my passions, since about the age of 17 I have always loved the look of acrylic nails. I like long ones, short ones, square ones, round ones, glitter ones, natural and white tips, the tackier the better...

(Real nails... but look at the pattern!)

As you can see... I love the tacky glitter ones.

About a year or so ago I decided I should attempt my own acrylics as being a student I shouldn't really be wasting so much money on my nails! It may seem strange, but I value getting my nails done more than a student night out!

These are all pictures above are of sets I have produced myself.... I'm not a professional by any stretch of imagination, its just something I enjoy doing and enjoy the outcome. I have practiced a hell of a lot but can never seem to get them to last as long as they do when I get them professionally dome, although for a lot cheaper I can't complain. The only thing I can complain about is the amount of time it takes from start to finish (about 3 hours) I have no idea how the nail bars can get people in and out with a brand new set of shiny acrylics in under an hour. My quickest set must have been 2 hours at least.

These are just a few examples of the nails I've done and unfortunately not the best ones as I can't find the rest of my nail pictures. (Always the way). Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my post and as I stated before, I am not a professional this is just something I enjoy doing myself.

BOOTS 3 FOR 2!

So, I thought I'd actually have a go a writing a blog post. I set my blog up around 3 weeks ago now and still haven't had the guts to post. I think I'm still being held back by the fear of no one wanting to read it, or even worse... A lot of people reading it! (not going to happen, but still daunting).

I thought I'd start my fist blog post with a Boots haul / product reviews. Last week I popped into Boots before uni, just for a browse really and ended up coming out with these gems! They had 3 for 2 across beauty (which i think is still on) so I had to pick up some things I've been after for a while.

1. The Real Techniques Stippling Brush by Samantha Chapman - I had to jump on the bandwagon with this one, a little late I know...But I honestly do not know what I was doing hesitating for so long on this purchase. It makes foundation application so, so much easier. My Double Wear goes on like a dream; as much as I LOVE Estee Lauder Double Wear I do find it a tad difficult to blend due to its thickness (which is also what I love about it). Anyway, the brush is brilliant and I can see myself using it every day for the foreseeable future! Another plus: I wash my brushes once a week and this brush was soo easy to wash, it also dried quickly which is a massive bonus. I hate having to wait forever for my brushes to dry!

2. Colorsport Eybrow Definer - Well this product took me a little while to get used to, at first I thought it was basically a brown felt tip in fancy packaging, it didn't really seem to make a difference to my brows and it seemed as though it was drying out! Oh how I was wrong... This little beauty is a brilliant alternative to eyebrow pencil/powder/wax or mascara (I used to use brown mascara on my brows). It doesn't smudge, so no worries about your brows sweating or rubbing off. It isn't too dark and is just the right amount of coverage for my brows... Without causing the dreaded 'Scouse brow', I'm sorry to those who like this look however, it just doesn't suit me!

3. Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer - I am also guilty at being late to the party on such a blogging must have! I was just never tempted by this concealer, I was happy with the one I've always used (another post on that later). However with the 3 for 2 offer on at Boots I had one more purchase to find, this happened to be the lucky thing that caught my eye. I must say I was impressed upon first use, very good coverage and blends evenly. I chose the light colour as I intended on applying it under my usual foundation on blemishes and spots. The only downfall I can think of is that its too dark to apply under the eyes, it tends to crack and can look rather flaky! Although its perfect for covering blemishes. (Oh! and the print rubs off the packaging pretty much straight away).

4. E45 Moisturizing Lotion - I loved this at first, my skin is extremely temperamental lately and not only have I been suffering from break-outs, but also the dreaded dry patches (not good for foundation; flaky face is never attractive), so this cream was perfect as it has no perfume, its very light and also extremely moisturizing meaning I can slather it on the dry patches without having to worry about the stinging that I sometimes get with heavily perfumed creams. The problem was, I started breaking out A LOT more since using this lotion on my face, I'm not sure if its related as I mentioned my skin being temperamental  however I have stopped using this on my face for now. I haven't written it off completely, once my skin has cleared up I will continue use and see what happens.

So that was my first post, hope you enjoyed it. More to come soon! :)

Welcome to my Blog!

Welcome to my new blog, I have been contemplating starting one for about a year now and I've finally taken the plunge! I've been reading fashion/beauty/lifestyle blogs for a similar amount of time and I love them! I am always taking inspiration from blogs on what to wear, what to purchase and which beauty products to try. The thing that has always got in the way of starting my own is what others think of me and what my friends would say if they discovered my blog. But I've decided I can no longer remain in the closet, I had to come out and reveal my love for blogging by starting my own...(finally)I will include everything that interests me, what I've been up to and more importantly; what I've bought/want to buy/could never afford but still want. As I am an avid online shopper/addict, I have a love of everything clothes, shoes, accessories and beauty both high end and high street brands but on a modest budget so am no stranger to a replica/ dupe. I haven't ever owned a blog so please be patient with me as its going to take me a while to get the hang of it and please be nice :) Thank you. xoxo
